Cashmere from Pure Collection of England - WINTER SALE NOW ON - up to 60% off
In 2003, as part of our commitment to protecting the environment, Pure started a programme to tackle the root cause of desertification; namely the over-grazing of cashmere goats on the Mongolian grasslands. This is a problem not widely understood in the West but a big deal in Inner Mongolia.

In April 2008, Pure became the only brand to source cashmere from 100% sustainable sources. We use only cashmere fibre from goats raised on farmsteads, rather than those that roam wild across the Mongolian Plains, causing devastation to the ecologically sensitive grasslands. We’ve been working closely with our Mongolian suppliers and their local communities to promote sustainability whilst, crucially, ensuring that the quality of cashmere fibre is not affected.

It’s a small start but, if other cashmere companies follow suit, the areas of grasslands that have become barren deserts in recent years could be reclaimed.
