The growth of cheap cashmere on the high street may have benefited shopper's wallets, but it has already shown an environmental impact. The once green grasslands of inner Mongolia have quickly turned to barren desert, as the land suffers from extensive goat farming.
Pure has addressed this issue, by sourcing their cashmere from goats farmed indoors, or on private farms, protecting the Mongolian countryside.
Their spring/summer 2008 collection uses 100% sustainable cashmere, which is produced ethically, and aims to have as little environmental impact as possible. The short sleeve cardigan is part of the new collection, and is not only super soft, but ecologically sound.
